Welcome to Middle-Earth: a journey in pictures in the province of Macerata

Hills Filottrano - Marche - Italy

A few weeks ago I drove to the province of Macerata to meet a lovely English couple who are getting married in San Severino Marche next year and my breath was literally taken away by the beauty of the landscapes.  It was actually hard to keep my eyes on the wheel and on a few occasions I had to stop to properly take in what was before my eyes: hill top villages, infinite views over the rolling hills, brush strokes of colour over the valleys and very, very nice people in bars and restaurants. I felt like I had been magically transported into a Tolkien novel.

I thought it would be a good idea to celebrate the beauty of this province by selecting a few shots by a local nature photographer called Stefania Vecchioni. I accidentally stumbled on her work on Fotocommunity.it and I was instantly blown away by the poetry of her touch and by how gently she portrays her land.

Enjoy!
